Terms of Service

DRAFT — NOT YET IN EFFECT. This document was prepared as a working draft and has not been reviewed by an attorney. Bracketed items are placeholders. Remove this notice only after legal review.

1. What walletscanner is

walletscanner.io ("walletscanner," "we," "us") is a free informational tool. It lets you look up a cryptocurrency wallet address and see whether that address appears in public sanctions data, third-party security blocklists, community-submitted scam reports, or notable on-chain activity patterns. By using the site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

2. Information only — no advice, no verification

walletscanner provides information, not advice. Nothing on this site is financial, legal, or investment advice, and no result constitutes a recommendation to transact or not transact with any address. In particular:

Community reports are unverified user content. They reflect the views and claims of the people who submitted them, not findings of fact by walletscanner. We review reports for obvious abuse before publication, but we do not and cannot confirm that the conduct described occurred.

The absence of data is not an assurance of safety. New wallet addresses are created constantly. An address with no reputation data is unknown, not safe, and we make no representation otherwise.

Third-party data is presented as received. Sanctions data derives from the U.S. Treasury OFAC SDN list; blocklist data is attributed to its named source. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data source, including on-chain data.

3. Community reports you submit

When you submit a report, you confirm that: (a) it describes your genuine, good-faith belief based on first-hand knowledge or evidence; (b) it does not knowingly identify a private individual (submit wallet addresses, websites, and descriptions of conduct — not names, photos, or contact details of people); and (c) you grant walletscanner a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, adapt, and distribute the report content in connection with operating the service.

You must not submit reports that are knowingly false, submitted to harass or defame, generated in bulk, or designed to manipulate an address's reputation (including reporting a competitor or reporting your own address to build false credibility elsewhere). We may reject, edit for safety (e.g., removing personal data), or remove any report at any time, at our sole discretion, and may ban submitters who abuse the system.

4. Disputes and removal requests

If you believe a published report about an address is false or defamatory, use the dispute function shown alongside the report or contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL]. Include the address, the report you dispute, and the basis of the dispute. We review disputes [manually; target response within 14 days] and may remove, annotate, or retain the report. Filing a dispute does not guarantee removal.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) access the service by automated means at volumes beyond normal individual use, including scraping, crawling, or systematic querying of lookup results; (b) extract, copy, or use data obtained from the service to build, augment, train, or operate any dataset, product, or service — commercial or otherwise — that aggregates wallet-address risk or reputation data, without our prior written license; (c) resell or republish our aggregated data; (d) attempt to probe, disrupt, or bypass security or rate-limiting measures, including by rotating IP addresses or identifiers to evade limits; (e) use the service to plan, facilitate, or conceal unlawful activity; or (f) use results as the sole basis for accusing an identifiable person of a crime. Open-data components (e.g., OFAC sanctions data) remain available from their original sources under their own terms; the restrictions above apply to data obtained from this service.

Permitted integrations. Notwithstanding the above, you are welcome and encouraged to: (i) link to walletscanner result pages (e.g., walletscanner.io/check/<address>) from any site, app, bot, or message; and (ii) embed our official widget (walletscanner.io/embed/<address>) in your site or product, provided the widget is displayed as delivered, including its attribution and link. Programmatic (API) access for integration into third-party products is available only under a granted API key and separate integration terms — contact [CONTACT EMAIL]. Integration permission is revocable for abuse.

6. Intellectual property and third-party licenses

The walletscanner site, design, and code are ours or our licensors'. Underlying data sources remain subject to their own terms: OFAC data is U.S. government work; certain blocklist data is used under open-source licenses (including GPL-3.0 sources, attributed in results). Community report content is licensed to us by its submitters as described in Section 3.

7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WALLETSCAN AND ITS OPERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF FUNDS, PROFITS, OR DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR RELIANCE ON, THE SERVICE OR ANY CONTENT ON IT — INCLUDING DECISIONS TO SEND OR NOT SEND FUNDS TO ANY ADDRESS. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.

Community reports are information provided by other users. To the extent permitted by law, including 47 U.S.C. § 230, walletscanner is not the publisher or speaker of user-submitted content.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless walletscanner and its operator from claims arising out of your breach of these Terms, including reports you submit.

9. Changes, suspension, termination

We may modify the service or these Terms at any time; the "Last updated" date reflects the current version, and continued use constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these Terms.

10. Governing law, arbitration, and class-action waiver

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Binding arbitration. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the service shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration shall be conducted by a single arbitrator, in English, and the seat of arbitration shall be in Wyoming. The arbitrator's decision is final and enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction. [ATTORNEY REVIEW: confirm AAA Consumer Rules are the appropriate rule set; consider whether a small-claims carve-out is appropriate.]

Class-action waiver. You agree that any dispute resolution will be conducted only on an individual basis, and not as a class action, consolidated action, or representative action. If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than arbitration, you waive any right to a jury trial.
